Welcome to the very first Spectrum Noir Blog Hop!  This week our entire design team has come together to start off summer with a grand celebration of Yellow – the color of summer!  If you have landed here from Danielle’s blog, you are hopping in the right direction.  If not, pop over to the Spectrum Noir Blog so you do not miss a single stop!
Yellow really is the colour of Summer, and I was thrilled to get that chance to make a beautiful bright and summery card for this Hop.  I have used one of my all time favourite stamps for this, which is this super cute Strawberry Kisses, Together stamp.
I’ve coloured Snow and Pup and the little boot all with my Spectrum Noir pens, I’ve only used the basic sets of 6, so you can see what beautiful results you can get without having to buy the whole set straight away.
The Boot has bee coloured using the yellow set, I used CT1, CT2, CT4 and GB5, using the darker colours towards the outside to give the boot a really rounded shape and shine.  The sole, cuff and roses have been coloured using the pink set, PP3, PP5 and DR3,  for the leaves I have used the green set, DG2 and DG3.  Snow (the kitten) has been coloured use cool grey’s IG1, IG2 and IG 4 with PP1 for her cheeks.  Pup (the puppy) has been coloured using the essential set and pale hues set, EB1 and EB2 with a little GB8 from the brown just a round the edge for depth, and again PP1 for his cheeks.  I have outlined the ehole image to make it “pop” with the warm greys’s BG1 and then created a shadow under the boot using BG1, BG 2 and BG4 to ground it.
I really wanted my embellishments on my card to match in with the coloured image…….. so I coloured every single one of them with my trusty Spectrum Noir Pens! …… REALLY!
The flowers, Ribbon, Pearls and hat pin where all white when I started! – for the Flowers I started by covering lightly with CT1 and CT2, then using PP5 I dabbed in little speck of pink towards the edge, finishing with just the tips in DR3.  I then took the chisel end of my blender pen, and held it against each petal of the flower for a couple of seconds, the ink from the blender pen soaks in and “smooches” them all together.  To colour the ribbon I simply lie it flat on a heat proof craft sheet, and drag the chisel tip along the ribbon, for this ribbon I used GB5.  The small yellow flowers where tipped with CT2 and CT4.
The hat pin and pearls where again both white, using the bullet nib of GB5 I simply coloured in circular motions, before I removed the pearls from the backing strip, and holding the pin in my hand.  I think that they look so rich and pearly, you would never be able to guess that they started off white and where coloured with a pen!  Ok so now onto the really FUN STUFF!
