Summer is here, ahhhhhhhh let the bright cards begin …….

…….ahhhhhh summer is here, what a lovely scorchio weekend we had. Spent a really lovely day at Raby Castle with hubby, had a picnic, walked in the gardens, mooched around the castle…… then had a lovely play with my newest acquisition – Citrus Stack, Die Cuts with a View Paper Pad. And Oh my goodness how much do I just love this pad of paper, it’s wonderful…. The colours are stunning for summer, but actually why just summer, they’re zingy enough to bring a smile to the lips at any time fo the year. I am loving dark card bases and white for matting and layering lately, I don’t know why, but its working for me anyway! I’ve inked around the edges of the patterned paper with Broken China Distress Ink. I also had a go at the latest craze of making paper blooms…. what fun I had, this blue one on the card was made from the same citrus stack of paper so the colours match in very easily indeed. I have decided that I need to photograph you a step by step for making these flowers, and I will try to do so either tonight or tomorrow, their much easier than they look 🙂 – In fact I owe you several step by steps I fear, but this will be the first one, as these homemade embellishments are just perfect for lovely summery cards, I am also imagining them in creams for wedding cards. Perfect!.

I’ve included a photograph of my first practice bloom too, which I made with the latte stack again from DCWV, (honestly – it’s a sin to call it a paper stack because actually it’s more like card. It’s a really good weight and can easily be used for card bases too.) I’ve inked this one with vintage photo, my hubby was most impressed, which in itself is no mean feat! he thinks it looks like wood, what do you think? I am going to plan a lovely muted/distressed card to show it at its perfect flowery little best 🙂

I would recommend you go for the 12 x 12 pad as for the difference in price from the 8 x 8, you can get so much more versatility. Cut the sheet in half to fold 6 x 6 card blanks, (the quality really is good enough to do this.) keep the 2nd half for matting and layering of another card, or to make your paper flowers…. loads and loads of value a large proportion of the sheets in the citrus stack are glittered too…. Oh, OK I’ve waffled enough can you tell how much I love them? Check them out here honestly you wont be disappointed, and the cards you will be able to make are just stunning………….you will be very impressed with their absolute lovelyness, is that a word?

Have a lovely day wherever you are and whatever you’re doing

Ooooo yes – If your budget does not stretch to the 12 x 12 or 8 x 8 pads do what I do – CHEAT! there are some lovely DCWV pre-folded card packs you get 40 cards in a pack (10 designs, 4 of each) and their double-sided. I chop em in half use them for matting and layering, stunning! and I have 40 good quality 4″ x 6″ envelopes to use too 🙂 SORTED! …..

Left-overs ….

Hi all

No posts for months and then 3 in one day! Claire really did get me feeling guilty 🙂 OK, I have an admission to make, I can’t bear left-overs of any description……. especially food and crafty bits :). I kept looking at the bits left from the distressed mum card of today, and thought, I can’t leave them, and I especially can not relegate them to the over-flowing bit box! because there just too nice to do that too, so here we go, a best friend card using the same technique as before but with the bits that were left over. The only addition is the best friend panel which is a Sizzix embossing folder, embossed on core-dination and sanded to an inch of its life, then cut out, and lined up in the folder, and ran back through the cuttlebug to sharpen the edges, where it got flattened when I sanded it 🙂 – if you get what I mean ……

... made from left-overs

Hope you like it….

Distressed Mum!

………. No don’t worry she is fine :), but I have made a distressed card for a Mum 🙂

Not really ... just a distressed card for a mum 🙂

OK – a couple of days a go a work colleague and friend gave me a little talking to about the lack of posting, and she is quite right I should be ashamed of myself, thank you Claire for the wake-up call, have a peek at Claire’s blog, she has some beautiful stuff on there http://gingerpiedesigns.blogspot.com.

So, I got out my stuff and had a little play ….. This card has been made using Coredinations cardstock in olive-green, Cuttlebug floral embossing folder, Versa magic, spanish Olive chalk dew drop ink pad, making memories Slice Machine with the Noteworthy Cartridge and some Olive Green Ribbon.

For the distressed crumpled panel, give a piece of coredination card a light mist with water, and scrumple up in your hands, flatten and with a sanding block, sand and distress the card. With a hot iron put the piece of card in the middle of two pieces of old cloth and iron flat …. tear down the right hand side and ink the tear with chalk ink. Run a cream panel of card through the cuttlebug with the floral folder, and rub the chalk ink pad over the embossed design, also ink the edges of the panel. Using the Slice and Noteworthy cartridge, cut out some flower layers from cream card and coredinations. Sand the coredination layers and ink the cream layers, crumple and shape and layer the flowers, finish the centre’s with brads, pearls or both!. Wrap a piece of olive satin ribbon around the centre panel and stick to the card base. Arrange the flowers in the top left and cut a decorative panel for your sentiment, again using the Slice and Noteworthy Cartridge, this sentiment is from the Peter Rabbit stamp plate……..

…….and voila a distressed mum 🙂

DCWV Thank you’s

Hi all

I have been a very shabby (again) poster, I really must get better at this, maybe if I put a reminder in my diary and promise to do just one a week ………

Anyway, a while ago I made some thank you cards with DCWV La Creme, which I bought in California in January. I am just loving this range and fingers crossed it will be available to you all soon 🙂 its so elegant and just effortlessly stylish. All I used to compliment it was some balck and cream card and some black ribbon! The shapes have been cut with the slice, noteworthy cartridge….

Thank you's for loved and missed work colleagues .............

Hope you like them (PS – SORRY about the absolutely terrible photo, the recipients were coming for a meal and I had not photgraphed the cards, so with 3 minutes to spare I bunched them together and snapped a quick one 🙂 )

Shades of White

Hmmmmm well I was so taken with the elegant card I made for my friend I thought I’d follow the formula for my Sister in Law and make her a card for her birthday in a similar style so…….

I followed the style but decided to go for a single colour theme of shades of white, added some ribbon and a feather and I have to say I was absolutely over the moon with the finished result of this one, even more so than the previous one!

The stamped image has been embossed using cosmic shimmer silver powder and the nestie shape has been raised with foam pads.

Elegant Birthday

Hi all

Hope Christmas has been everything you could have hoped for and you have all had a wonderful time with your families. Just a quickie here, this is a Birthday card I made for a very good friend who loves elegant designs. Card made with a good quality matt brown card for the base some beautiful handmade paper, a Martha Stewart Doily Punch and nesties. The stamped image is the singLe buttercup from the Buttercup Flower Fairy stamp plate from Crafters Companion.

I was really happy with the finished result, and my friend loved it 🙂

I took the photo’s in a hurry, so the quality not what I would have hoped for! sorry!
