Cal i Forn i a

I’m back from a whirlwind Business trip to our USA office. ย We have managed to cram so much in, I thought I’d share with you some pictures of what I’ve been up to. ย I have decided that I really want to take Mr C. over for a holiday, he would love the mountain biking, and I’ll love the shopping! and the food, and the people who are so warm and welcoming.

Day 1 – Rodeo Drive

Craft Shop shopping on Rodeo Drive was a fabulous experience – its just like the movies, I had my eyes peeled for Richard Geere, but didn’t spot him any where ๐Ÿ™‚

Rodeo Drive

How totally fabulous is this, I’d love a couple of days exploring Rodeo Drive, Sun, Shopping Cocktails and atmosphere in abundance!

At the end of the day we headed to Rattlers for dinner, I’ve visited the USA lots of times (I’m very lucky) but it was my first time in a Rattlers, if you are heading to LA you must go the food was amazing and the atmosphere fantastic, they’d even decorated cowboy boots all around the restaurant – I LOVED them and the traditional kilner my water came in.

Day 2 – meeting the Team

Had a fabulous day in the office with the USA Team talking about all the fabulous new products we have coming up, and then headed out for dinner. ย There were so many of us Donald had to hire a HUGE mini van to fit us all in, I’d hate to see what a maxi van looks like! We then headed out for some fabulous food with the gang and had a wonderful evening catching up, my desert was too fabulous, the most delicious sorbet I’ve ever had!

Day 3 and 4 – another day with the Gang in the office

More food and laughs with the Gang and on our last day a traditional pancake breakfast! this is the one and only time I had them this trip, so a real treat!

“No one does pancakes like the USA!”

Day 5 – Homeward Bound

I’m home, I can hardly believe what I’ve done in the last few days and I’m full of ideas for new products – it was a fabulously inspirational visit, with fabulous people. ย I’m already missing my very best stateside friend beautiful Michelle.

BLOG CANDY .. Sealed with a little kiss …… Sneaky Peak ….

Hello all

I have once again let myself down terribly with my lack of bloggy posts…. I have no excuse other than I have been very very busy, up and down the road to Ideal World and also beavering away on new products for you all, even little prods from Claire could not make me lose my focus!. I am hoping to redeem myself fully, by offering you a sneaky peak of the POW launch on Friday on Create and Craft, and the reason I have been *absent* from the bloggy world…..

We are launching a fabulous range of Rubber Stamps “Sealed with a little kiss” (Swalk), with a CD which has been designed to complement the stamps perfectly it features stunningly beautiful design sets, borders, alphabets, inserts, verse writer etc, BUT also included are 2 full sets of co-ordinating papers plus really useable co-ordinating flowers that can be resized and layered to make fabulous co-ordinating embellishments.

To celebrate the launch Sara is offering the complete Pick of the Week to one lucky winner drawn at random at midnight Saturday 17th July and announced on Sunday 18th July. To enter for the prize is really easy, visit The Crafter’s Companions News and Inspiration Blog, and follow the instructions.

To help celebrate the launch I’m offering a little Candy too – the stamp set I’ve used for my sneaky peek “Sunshine”. All you need to do is leave a comment here telling me what you think of this new range. Then pop a post on your blog, if you have one, linking back here…… The other Design Team members also have some candy to offer, so pop along to their blogs to see what beautiful cards they have made for their sneak peeks (all the candies are different so you could gather quite a little stash…..)

Summer is here, ahhhhhhhh let the bright cards begin …….

…….ahhhhhh summer is here, what a lovely scorchio weekend we had. Spent a really lovely day at Raby Castle with hubby, had a picnic, walked in the gardens, mooched around the castle…… then had a lovely play with my newest acquisition – Citrus Stack, Die Cuts with a View Paper Pad. And Oh my goodness how much do I just love this pad of paper, it’s wonderful…. The colours are stunning for summer, but actually why just summer, they’re zingy enough to bring a smile to the lips at any time fo the year. I am loving dark card bases and white for matting and layering lately, I don’t know why, but its working for me anyway! I’ve inked around the edges of the patterned paper with Broken China Distress Ink. I also had a go at the latest craze of making paper blooms…. what fun I had, this blue one on the card was made from the same citrus stack of paper so the colours match in very easily indeed. I have decided that I need to photograph you a step by step for making these flowers, and I will try to do so either tonight or tomorrow, their much easier than they look ๐Ÿ™‚ – In fact I owe you several step by steps I fear, but this will be the first one, as these homemade embellishments are just perfect for lovely summery cards, I am also imagining them in creams for wedding cards. Perfect!.

I’ve included a photograph of my first practice bloom too, which I made with the latte stack again from DCWV, (honestly – it’s a sin to call it a paper stack because actually it’s more like card. It’s a really good weight and can easily be used for card bases too.) I’ve inked this one with vintage photo, my hubby was most impressed, which in itself is no mean feat! he thinks it looks like wood, what do you think? I am going to plan a lovely muted/distressed card to show it at its perfect flowery little best ๐Ÿ™‚

I would recommend you go for the 12 x 12 pad as for the difference in price from the 8 x 8, you can get so much more versatility. Cut the sheet in half to fold 6 x 6 card blanks, (the quality really is good enough to do this.) keep the 2nd half for matting and layering of another card, or to make your paper flowers…. loads and loads of value a large proportion of the sheets in the citrus stack are glittered too…. Oh, OK I’ve waffled enough can you tell how much I love them? Check them out here honestly you wont be disappointed, and the cards you will be able to make are just stunning………….you will be very impressed with their absolute lovelyness, is that a word?

Have a lovely day wherever you are and whatever you’re doing

Lx

Ooooo yes – If your budget does not stretch to the 12 x 12 or 8 x 8 pads do what I do – CHEAT! there are some lovely DCWV pre-folded card packs you get 40 cards in a pack (10 designs, 4 of each) and their double-sided. I chop em in half use them for matting and layering, stunning! and I have 40 good quality 4″ x 6″ envelopes to use too ๐Ÿ™‚ SORTED! …..
